Okay So this one didn t work for me and I am bummed at that Maybe it s my fault for thinking the title would involveof a cute scenario with the whole PTA deal and schools and yeah, I really thought that would be in the book but it wasn t and now I m totes confused. So, Malak is a doctor and something else but we don t know what We know he likes the Sheriff, aka Shiloh, of the small town he has moved to for a change why the change and what he is looking for again, we don t know but it s Okay So this one didn t work for me and I am bummed at that Maybe it s my fault for thinking the title LOT We also know there is a string of murders that seem to be related and seem to be ofanimal based than human and so there must be shifters about somewhere, right Before I get too into the story, I do want to say I liked the take on the differences between what a Were was and what a Shifter is The explanation was detailed so that I got it and that I liked the line drawn between the two Now having said that, it was about the only thing that was detailed, organized and made sense through the book.I am not going to go into what I didn t work for me as this is a short story sigh This had a so much potential to be really good and interesting but it really fell flat I wish Shiloh had stayed with the shy personality we got in the beginning instead of the sex machine we get later Had we learnedabout Malak and what Faysal were and maybe just I wish Malak would have not played the I m not what you think I am card less and crap, I don t know. This had again, potential to be a great story had it been longer, maybe Ugh After reading this story, my reaction was very mixed and I was unsure as how to rate it Its novel approach to shifter stories might rate 4 stars, but the romantic was a doctor of Middle Eastern probably Iranian descent who recently set up practice in a small town With three men killed on the night of three different PTA meetings, the doctor knew they very suspicious deaths, but discussing his true beliefs with the sheriff was fraught with some nice difficulties, both because of the nature of the doctor s background as well as his attraction to the lawman The story and ideas felt refreshingly innovative for a shifter story to me as a reader of paranormal romances, although are probably not uncommon in speculative fiction The multi cultural background of a character or two was integrated nicely into the shifter mythos and even a bit into the fearful reaction of a small town Overall, the plot and mechanics of the shifter setting and story interested and intrigued me as a reader.Unfortunately, I did not find the relationship very compelling Mechanically, it s hard to point to anything in particular but I will just say it didn t work for me, especially once Faysal entered the picture Indeed, with Faysal s commentary framing much of the conversation, I found myself feelingof a creepy vibe than a lusty, attraction chemistry between the read. How does a brand new relationship flourish amid an active murder investigation, the appearance of an meddlesome friend and a very, very big secret Malak keeps getting called out to murder scenes that are stumping the local sheriff But this is not just any local sheriff, it s Shiloh, the man that Malak wants Badly And how does he tell Shiloh that the murders are being committed by a creature that Shiloh thinks is not real And that Malak himself, is another such creature The situation is complicated by the appearance of Faysal, an old friend of Malak s who has arrived to kill the werewolf that is stalking the town He arouses a deep jealousy in Shiloh, causing Malak to walk a fine line between reassuring Shiloh and keeping Faysal close enough to stop a killer Sex, drama, and a whole lot liked the pacing but on the other hand, I had a few issues with it I liked that Shiloh and Malak were circling each other but never acted on their attraction I liked that Malak had so many secrets and that he wanted to live a peaceful life I liked that Shiloh was such a jealous person and the connection between them. What I didn t really like is that it was a bit contradictory at times Such as when they were trying to determine who the Were was and gave off traits of what the Were would do and, in the end, the Were ended up doing everything they said it wouldn t do or wouldn t act like I was also a bit disappointed in the way things ended I expected an intense ending but was really underwhelmed with how things played out.All in all, it wasn t a bad story It had it s good parts and it s bad but it was still an enjoyable read If you re looking for a smexy short story with a bit of mystery, definitely five this one a go Author Felicitas Ivey offers up a paranormal short story replete come to put down some roots and is attracting a lot of attention But it is the Sheriff that has spiked his interest the most Unfortunately, not too soon after Malak s arrival, strange killings begin to surface all timed to the local PTA meeting schedule But these are not typical murders instead, each victim is viciously torn apart with various body parts and organs missing When the sheriff and doctor realize that each of the men had at one time approached Malak for a date, the revelation that the good doctor is the common denominator leads them to a most dangerous conclusion.Werewolf PTA is an action packed story that keeps the reader guessing right to the end With multiple layers of secrets and surprises, it would have been great if this story could have delved a bit deeper into the paranormal aspects it delivered up Needless to say, the mysterious Malak and his brother, who comes into the storythan half way through, share a history that we merely get glimpses of as the plot unfolds Couple this with the sheriff, Shiloh Payne, who seemed to change rather rapidly from a quiet, blushing aw shucks kind of man to an incredibly self assured and aggressive bed mate in the blink of an eye, and one can see how desperately this story needed to slow down and spend time developing its characters. This was a solid plot that needed a lotpage time to evolve and make sense When Malak s friend, Faysal, interrupts Shiloh and Malak s first date the morning after, he brings with him such hostility toward Shiloh that it automatically made one think he was jealous, and yet the character swears he is not After that the story took such rapid twists and turns that it was hard to understand the real purpose of Faysal at all, especially since Malak was quite able to subdue the killer were all by himself at story s end.Werewolf PTA suffered from lack of development and too many conflicting plot points Still, Felicitas Ivey is a good writer and this story certainly had some compelling moments that I would ve loved to see expanded into a longer novel.Reviewed by Sammy for The Novel Approach Reviewshttp www.thenovelapproachreviews.co
