@Free Ebook ⚡ A Shot at Redemption ì Cash Douglas has made a career of jumping from car to car and track to track, always following the big pay days and never worrying about whose toes he might be stepping on in the process He has his reasons When he and his wife face a personal crisis and an ever growing stack of medical bills, Cash relies on his unique skill as a race car driver to make money the best way he knows how He provides for his family but his reputation suffers About the time his situation begins to improve, Cash receives what he believes is a once in a lifetime offer to drive for RaceTech, a brand new supermodified race team Frank McKinnel, the eccentric RaceTech owner, has plans to franchise his custom race parts business He wants publicity and knows hiring a black sheep like Cash Douglas is a sure way to get people talking His decision angers at least one person as well A suspicious practice day crash is the first of many misfortunes Broken windows lead to slashed tires, cryptic warning messages, sabotage, assault and attempted murder Someone is out to get Cash, or RaceTech, or both The big question is why Frank McKinnel appears to be the only one with a clear motive He has a knack for turning publicity into profit, but would he trash his own cars and risk the life of his driver just to sell a few franchises Cash has to find out before it s too late A Shot at Redemption is a fast paced thriller full of intrigue, suspense and high octane action This was a terrific story from beginning to end Follow Cash Douglas as he sets out to redeem a faltering racing career by driving for the newly formed RaceTech team Things start off on shaky ground for the new team and driver and go south from there Little things start happening with the cars making them hard to drive, a few ending in crashes Is it coincidence, plain bad luck, or is someone tampering with the RaceTech cars to keep the team and maybe even Cash Douglas himself off the track T This was a story I never thought I d like a book about car racing, but author Mike Sova proved me wrong Is there something unethical or inappropriate about reviewing my own book I m going to say no After all, I ve been publishing reviews of other people s books for months Now that my own life s work is available for sale, I think I d really be missing the boat if I didn t at least take the time to write a Broken windows lead to threats, sabotage and attempted murder Sounds pretty good, right Well, if you know any publishers, feel free to mention my name I m currently self published but certainly not above going atraditional route Of course, there s a lotto A Shot at Redemption than a three line synopsis A muchdetailed summary is available on my website, michaelsova.com, as well as onFor now, it s an e book only I do plan on having a print edition available at some point, hopefully in the not too distant future It wouldn t be fair for me to try to compare my work to that of any other author And honestly, I don t know who I would compare myself to I ve read plenty of suspense novels, of which A shot at Redemption is one I ve even read a few novels with auto racing as a backdrop, although Janet Evanovich s Metro Girl books are the only ones that immediately come to mind The point is I don t think I ve ever read any books that incorporated the two When I started writing years ago, I had this misguided idea that, if I could come up with a really good beginning, everything else would just sort of fall into place I was wrong I started three or four manuscripts I don t remember any of the details now I do remember that, after just a few pages, I hit a wall Maybe that was due to inexperience or merely lack of direction Either way, I knew I was spinning my wheels I remembered someone say you should write what you know I ve since learned that s not really necessary at the time, though, it sounded pretty good I took stock of my somewhat limited knowledge base I d just finished a career in broadcasting There were some possibilities there I may still write a book on payola one of these days but at the time, it seemed like I d be biting off a littlethan I could chew I likewise didn t want to write about country music, football, baseball, or life as a stay at home dad During college, I did a bit of racing related journalism That was also about the time I started reading Dick Francis He spent decades writing wonderful suspenseful novels either directly or indirectly related to horse racing To this day, I don t know or care anything about that sport I still loved Dick Francis s books because he was such a gifted writer and storyteller It s a shame he s no longer with us I wouldn t dare compare myself to him I do, however, give him credit for being the single largest inspiration behind my debut novel I decided that, if he could make me enjoy reading about horses, I could make others enjoy reading about race cars I can t promise I achieved that goal but I gave it my best shot Pardon the pun A Shot at Redemption is not strictly a book about racing Yes, the main character is a race car driver He gets into trouble as a direct result of his occupation and some of the choices he s made That said, the story takes the reader far beyond the steel walls of the Oswego Speedway I encourage you to give it a try I don t think you ll be disappointed And if you do like the book, please do me a favor and write a review, post a note on Facebook, or tell a friend It makesof a difference than you may think, especially to a lowly self published author like myself
