I enjoyed this story because it was a new twist on psychics for me I had never read a German based story before The main characters were very real and believable I enjoyed they way they interacted together and fell in love. I really enjoyed this book It was fun, entertaining, and very captivating I loved the chemistry between the two main characters and the plot was unique and interesting Most girls get a car or an has secret psychic powers Marissa has always known things since she was a child, things she could never explain And now she knows why And she knows that if she were to try to tell anyone about her being a Kundigerin, she will suffer great pain.Wolf Harper is named the executor of his grandmother s estate But, before he can sell the estate, he must find something called a Kundigerin But for the life of him, he has no idea what that is Everyone he asks wonders what it means too and the only definition that anyone can find on that word is, an expert But an expert at what And how is he to find one Wolf is not only trying to fulfill his grandmother s wishes, but also trying to keep his family s business afloat Both Marissa and Wolf s lives intertwine when they, literally, crash into each other Little do they know, they are both connected in some weird way Together, they will find the answers to the questions they have But when Marissa says too much about Wolf s past, things that even Wolf doesn t know about, Wolf doesn t know what or who she is Should he trust her Is she the Kundigerin he has been seeking And if so, how much does he really want to know about his past or his future I really loved reading this book It was fast paced and really fun to read The characters were witty and enjoyable to read about I especially loved Wolf The way he acts around Marissa, the sweet and funny thoughts that go through his head sigh He was an awesome character I also liked that Marissa was a pastry chef, like I might want to be in the future I connected with her character Overall, I loved the plot, the characters, and the story development I recommend this book to everyone Some of my favorite parts Want to talk about it Wolf Scoffed Men don t talk about their feelings, don t you know that And what was she supposed to say Oh, sorry if I ve been avoiding you but I thought we could bring the new year in with a bang Marissa had not only gotten inside his head, she d taken up other mythologies than the traditional Hollywood stereotypes This one revolved around a German tale, and was entertaining In some places the solutions to the issues put in their path seemed a bit too easy, and I wasn t sure if the story was aimed at adults, or should have been a YA tale.Despite the formula nature to the romance, it was done in an interesting way, and I read the book in one weekend I m glad I read this tale, it was a wonderful escape from the real world that left me satisfied and happy I would recommend this book to anyone looking for a light and enjoyable escape into a fantasy world Mist in the Meadow by Karla Brandenburg is a 2013 independent publication I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.Marissa, a pastry chef, is celebrating her twenty Electronics, he freely allows Bart to take the cat In the meantime Wolf has been told that to unlock a certain codicil in his grandmother s will he will have to find a Kundigerin He has no idea what that is or how to find one But, all the time there is a Kundigerin right under his nose Marissa Marissa s German heritage is behind the gift she has now inherited as well as having been born with a mass of red hair.Wolf learns that Harper s is in bad shape financially He is dealing with the board and his grandfather s bad bookkeeping when it becomes apparent Marissa knows a great deal about his family Immediately suspicious of how she knows all the things she does, Wolf doesn t trust her But before long he and Marissa are tearing at each others clothes However, Marissa and Wolf seem to be the victims of someone s wrath and a mystery develops, one in which Marissa s new gift could be very helpful, but could also put her in serious danger. This paranormal fantasy is rich in imagination and told a very interesting story of Wolf and Marissa s family history Wolf and Marissa are pretty much glued to one another on impact despite Wolf s initial confusion about Marissa s abilities A question involving the accident that killed Wolf s parents is at the heart of the story The paranormal elements were outside the box and mixed German mythology with folklore and helped to answer questions and resolve long buried secrets The romance was sensual, not overly angst filled, but Wolf and Marissa do have a lot to deal with and go through their fair share of misunderstandings and hard times There were a few contradictions and a few areas that could have beenexplanatory Marissa was to keep her new gift a secret, but she was rather open about it, and the German words were not defined for the reader If things like that bother you, you can always go to the internet and look for translations, but I don t think the reader should have to work that hard A brief explanation as what these words meant would have helped the reader understand the complexities a little better Other than those small complaints this is a quick and enjoyable read and crossed genres into romance, mystery, and fantasy This is an excellent book to lose yourself in for awhile I m giving this one a 3.5 rounded up to four 3.5This was a pretty good read I really liked some aspects of it Marissa s family friends, her work ethic, Wolf s self inforced control issues, the writing I especially liked the way Wolf s slightly crazed, desperate behaviour countered the traditional masculine role without making him feel wimpy and the fact that Chuck may not have gotten his comeuppance, but he didn t get off scott free either if you look at the karma of his life However some things irked me Brandenburg scott free either if you look at the karma of his life However some things irked me Brandenburg doesn t seem to be bound by her own rules One of the first things Marissa learns about being a Kundigerin is that she isn t allowed to talk about it However, throughout the book she seems to speak fairly freely about it Granted she avoids the actual word, but she still reveals herself onthan one occasion Additionally, it is quite explicitly explained that females are Kundigerin and males are Secret Keepers, but Wolf seems to have Kundigerin powers of his own Plus, since Marissa doesn t seem to know much about her abilities the reader doesn t know much and as a direct consequence there were times the final confrontation for example where I only had a hazy understanding of what actually happened Apersonalised dislike was the fact that I thought that the whole misunderstanding with the ex girlfriend was pat and trite I could have done without all of the resulting self doubt She knew how he felt about her, so why feel so insecure And lastly, After the mystery wrapped up a little too nicely if you ask me and everyone who deserved saving was saved there were still several chapters of just plain mush No romantic trope was missed Wolf systematically worked through every awww moment possible So much for everything in moderation Having laid my irritants on the table, let me reiterate that I enjoyed the read despite them Brandenburg is a talented writer who sculpts believable characters that readers can easily relate to I think the plot escaped the bounds of the story a little bit, but there is still a gem in here that is worth looking at I bought book 3 Rising Mist on pre order, because it sounded interesting and I d read excerpts from Mrs Brandenburg s other I ve encountered, this series has a story thread running through it that I had to experience beginning to end So, I put that book aside and bought this one and the sec I bought book 3 Rising Mist on including the minor characters, each with distinct personalities Great growth and the characters are so easy to connect with to fall in love with While I m usually not keen on sex scenes in my books, I never hold it against the author if it s essential to the story and in this case it is part of the story But, if you re looking for a clean read and won t compromise, you ll need to pass this series by.The story is well thought out Moreover, as you continue through the series and see the foreshadowing, revelations, and quickening of the adventure, it becomes obviously that the storyline was thoroughly planned The details of the characters abilities are comprehensible and consistent. The story is well executed Hm That doesn t convey it fully Let s try this Mrs Brandenburg wrote a freakin awesome book It was so well written that I was sucked right in and lost touch with my surroundings as I was able to visualize every moment of the story In fact, the only reason I stopped reading was because the battery on my tablet which started out as fully charge died and I discovered it was 2 AM Once I finished this book, I had to immediately jump into the next, eager to meet the new additions and continue to the overall story arc I m glad I had all three books in the series on hand and highly recommend you do the same thing This Adult fantasy romance is about a girl with a German heritage
