@Read E-pub Î Hunter's Moon ⚝ Ten years ago, the Great Unveiling revealed the presence of supernatural beings living on Earth, but not all humans know much about them or care about them as anything other than a paycheckKieran Knight is a freelance mercenary who hunts mythical beings for money He abducts a man called Gabriel King, intending to turn him over to his client But Gabriel isn t any ordinary cowboy He s a powerful werewolf and the beta of his pack and as he and Kieran soon discover, he is also Kieran s mateKieran knows next to nothing about how mating works, and he isn t gay but that doesn t mean he doesn t feel the chemistry heating up between them To save Gabriel, Kieran orchestrates an escape, but his clients won t give up their werewolf without a fight Jump from genies back to lycans The author tried to recapture the momentum from the first book but didn t quite make it Kerian s conflicting actions are annoying so made it hard to really enjoy the book This third volume of the Lifting the Veil series, addsinformation about lycans in this world, as it is about Gabriel oldest brother of Rafe, from book one and his mate Kieran If any two guys ever had a tough set of cards dealt them, it is these two Kieran is a mercenary who hunts mythical beings for money, he is not gay, and he is less than interested in mating and settling down Worse than that, he is one of the men who capture Gabe, making Gabe wonder whether Fate has it in for him This third volume of the Lifting the Veil series, addsinformation about lycans in this world, as it is about Gabriel oldest and he is less than interested in mating and settling down Worse than that, he is one of the men who capture Gabe, making Gabe wonder whether Fate has it in for him, and he just isn t meant for matehood This book is all about the action, confrontation, and two men trying to figure out how in the world they are supposed to be ideal anythings for each other Add to that some interesting thoughts about how matings work in this world, and I was fascinated from beginning to end.Kieran is a tough guy and a hothead He used to be in the IRA and has been a mercenary for three years He doesn t much care what he hunts, as long as he gets paid From the moment he sets eyes on Gabe that changes It becomes obvious that he does have a conscience, deep down, as he risks his life to free Gabe, destroying all he has worked for in three years But his issues have only started When he finds out they are supposed to be mates, he rebels He is NOT gay never mind the bone deep attraction he feels, and he will not settle down with some cowboy in the middle of nowhere He does, however, feel the chemistry between him and Gabe and he is curious.Gabe is over three hundred years old and has been looking for his mate forever He is calm and collected, patient, and willing to wait for Kieran even if it kills him Kieran s rejection wounds him deeply, but the man is his mate, and Gabe is a decent guy, so he still protects him and is prepared to do whatever is best for Kieran Some of the things he offers are unique to this world, and I found everything around the mating ritual fascinating I did shake my head at the level of self sacrifice Gabe engaged in, but lucky for him, it all works out If you like werewolf stories where the werewolf iscivilized than he is human, if two men on the opposite of every imaginable spectrum fascinate you, and if you re looking for a read that is full of action, fighting between lovers, and the mysteries of werewolf lore and love, then you will probably enjoy this novel 2 1 2 3 HeartsReview written for MM Good Book Reviewshttp mmgoodbookreviews.wordpress.com This story is part of a series and best read in order Kieran works with a group of long as the price is right Kidnapping Gabriel shakes Kieran s world and has him questioning his behaviour and his treatment of mythical creatures Fighting his cravings for the werewolf is hard, but how can he just accept wanting a man Gabriel has to process his feelings when he discovers that his mate is a callous mercenary, getting to know the man while on the run makes it a bit easier, but having Kieran reject him for being male is hard when the mating pull is strong Can Kieran and Gabriel truly mate when Kieran isn t gay Hunter s Moon is a nice continuation of the Lifting The Veil series, it has a connection toThe Wolfing Waywith Gabriel being the older brother of Rafe Gabriel and Kieran are nothing alike, Gabriel is calm, gentle and tries not to let anything get to him, even when he is kidnapped Kieran is hot tempered, coarse and doesn t care about many people, until he kidnaps Gabriel Both men have difficulties when they discover they are mates, but coming to an understanding is harder than either thought I really enjoyed the first half of this story, Gabriel is kidnapped and discovers one of the mercenary s is his mate, Kieran feels a pull towards the werewolf they have captured and discovers he can t leave him in the hands of his employers, they escape together and the truth of them being mates comes out, but Kieran s straight and finds it hard to accept The second half of the story is all about Kieran trying to accept the mating and Gabriel trying to reassure him, it isn t easy for either of them, especially Kieran because Kieran is straight and until he gets a whiff of Gabriel s pheromones had never had a reaction to any man I found the latter part of the book to be a disappointment because a lot of their getting to know each other time was brushed over and just mentioned in passing, we didn t get to see Kieran softening to having a male mate or coming to terms with his change in sexuality, we were just told he was and did, and I was still left with the feeling that Kieran was still only willing to give it a go and not that he had developed any feelings for Gabriel.Although I liked Kieran I hated that I was left guessing at the end about if he would fall in love with Gabriel, Gabriel is clearlythan half way there and I would have loved for it to be a genuine happily ever after The sex between them is very primal, passionate and hot, we are left in no doubt about the sexual side to their mating because it is HOT I will recommend this story to those who want enemies to friends to lovers story, hot sex, gay for you, conflicting emotions and a happy for now ending There is an inherent problem with this book the writer s prose and point of view are terribly inconsistent You may read one chapter and be thoroughly drawn in by the author s words, but, in the next chapter it is as though a completely different person was the author That is a major defect for a writer it cannot be blamed on an editor or a publisher Additionally, this book feels like it s two short stories that were combined to sell a book Chapters 1 5 is one story, and Chapters 7 to t There is an inherent problem with this book the writer s prose and point of view are terribly inconsistent You may read one chapter and be thoroughly drawn in by the author s words, but, in the next chapter it is as though a completely different person was the author That is a major defect for a writer it cannot be blamed on an editor or a publisher Additionally, this book feels like it s two short stories that were combined to sell a book Chapters 1 5 is one story, and Chapters 7 to the end are another completely different story that is loosely ties together by Overlapping characters In any other novel, these first two criticisms are sufficient to give the book an unfavorable review But, many portions of this book are chock full of terrible plot holes that demonstrate incredibly poor planning by the author, and mandate an even lower rating Here are some examples 1 The King family is one of the richest and most powerful according to the first book, with armed security all over the place How did Gabriel ever get kidnapped 2 There is a impervious bunker to protect Gabriel and Kieran, yet they inexplicably choose to leave the bunker to screw in the woods The author actually has one main character tell the other how dangerous it is outside the bunker, yet they have an hour long sex session out in the open woods Could either of them have said, hey, I really want to make love, but how about we go back into the bunker because there are mercenaries on our tail, and we are only a little bit in front of them No, the author didn t think of that gaping plot hole And don t tell me that the two main characters couldn t think because they were blinded by sex, since Gabriel is plotted in the story as being extraordinarily cool and collected in all situations 3 Werewolves have superhuman strength, yet Gabriel never uses it to overpower his captors 4 The bind between soul mates have been explored in many novels of this type, yet this author ignores the power that such a coupling brings 5 Kieran puts out all kinds of alarms around the bunker where they are captured Why didn t any of them go off 6 Kieran is a smart enough covert operative to get rid of the vehicle that he escaped from the captors in, yet he did not think that the clothing would have tracers on them That was the first thing I thought of, and I couldn t understand why hey didn t stop at a walmart or something to buy sweats and a t shirt and dump their original clothing In a prison escape, isn t that the first thing that the escapee does so he will not be noticed 7 Kieran stops at a graveyard and gets 5000 dollars and a gun from under a gravestone How about chartering a private plane or a helicopter to get out of Louisiana Or, even if they didn t use his money, Gabriel is a wealthy man, how about him spending some money to charter a plane Or how about using a prepaid cell phone non traceable to have Gabriel call his family to tell them where he is so another pack of werewolves in Louisiana cold come to his aide That was foreshadowed in the first book in this series, but again, the author completely drops the ball Or how about just going to the police and report that you ve been kidnapped These are just some of the obvious plot flaws that jump off the page as you are reading there are scoresin this book Just like the first book in this series, the author has done a terrible job at plotting out her story I gave her the benefit of the doubt on the first story in this series, but she has again demonstrated that her lack of ability in this genre cannot be corrected For the last 50 or so pages of the book, the author plods on and on about the bonding and mating of Kieran and Gabriel Now, I know we are supposed to forgive the multiplicity of flaws in a book because the author gives us all a happily ever after ending, but, I just can t do it This author has consistently demonstrated that her stories are poorly developed and poorly told Brief glimpses of writing ability is enough to pass a college creative writing class, it simply does not cut the mustard for a professional author I simply cannot waste anymoney on this author s work, when there are so many other good authors in the Dreamspinner lineup A very, very generous two stars from me, and that s only because the initial story concept was a good one that should have been sold by this author to aqualified writer
