The action moves from the Caribbean to the battlefields of WWI, but the style remains the same, mixing fantastical digressions with pseudo historical events for a fine bit of entertainment that increasingly taunts me to learn French so that I can get the full flavor of the text, which plainly suffers in translation. 4,5
